Question:
When did Hollyview begin?
Answer:
History of Hollyview Family Fellowship
Hollyview Baptist Church was conceived as a vision of the Church Extension Committee of the Central Pacific Association in early 1970 because it appeared to be a fast growing area of Clackamas County. It had been designated by the County as a population expansion zone and a number of new housing developments had already sprung up. Based on these projections, about 10 acres of land were purchased near the intersection of Hoffmeister Road and 257th Avenue just west of Boring, Oregon. In 1973, a core group of three families (Andersons, Gonnermans and Roorks) met for a home Bible study and planning. The area was surveyed for interest in a new church and a call was extended to Larry Neufeld who was Pastoring a church in Sioux Falls, SD. The Neufeld family arrived in January, 1974 and started meeting with the core group. On March 3, 1974 the first worship service was held in the Boring Grange Hall with 32 people present.
